“Irritable bowel syndrome (often called ‘IBS’) is a disorder that interferes with the normal functioning of the large bowel. The most common symptoms include pain or discomfort in the abdomen, bloating, an urgent need to empty the bowel, and changes in bowel habit (diarrhoea or constipation, or both).
IBS will often come and go throughout a person’s life and can be a painful and
upsetting condition. Its exact cause is unknown. Irritable bowel syndrome affects between 10% and 20% of the general population, but most often occurs in young people between the ages of 20 and 30.
It is twice as common in women as in men.”

By learning how to use relaxation techniques and self-hypnosis you can take control of the factors that aggravate your IBS such as stress, worry and anxiety.
The IBS Management Programme is a series of six sessions spread over a period of between three and four months depending on the individual circumstances of each client.
Although IBS is a physical condition that affects the normal operation of smooth muscle in the gut, it can be made much worse by stress and anxiety.
